Hi, and welcome to Tall Cat Tales.
We are a new community forum for cat lovers and want to be the "Number One" place to be to share all things we love about cats.
Recently made redundant from the construction industry and in my mid-fifties, I was beginning to loose hope of ever finding a job again - until I spoke to my career guidance counsellor who suggested that looking for a traditional job was maybe not where I should be focusing my energies.
In discussions, I revealed my passion for cats. Whenever I meet people who can't understand my love for cats, I remind them of the research that shows pets are good for your health. For example having a cat helps relieve stress and caring for a cat gives me something constructive to do in my spare time.
I then mentioned the lack of available facilities in my home area and Self-employment was suggested as a potential option.
I realised that opening a cattery was a very realistic option but I needed help. There was one problem. Due to the economic crash my pension has not matured. Being technically self-employed all my working life, I am not entitled to any state aid. I have no income!
I am a man of traditional values and I do not like being dependent on handouts, and so I came up with the idea for this website, from which I would create an eBook of funny stories, heart-warming tales and general "Feel Good" accounts of how cats have inspired and filled the lives of so many of us. I will compile this eBook from accounts passed on to me in addition to stories and photographs submitted by our readers. The proceeds of this eBook will help me fulfil my dream, but also I want to help others.
10% of every cent raised through the sale of this eBook will go to a cat charity of YOUR choosing.
A further 10% will be donated to the Kildare Animal Foundation - a local centre here in Ireland that helps sick and injured animals. The Kildare Animal Foundation, founded in 1994 relies totally on donations from the public for funding and receives no structured sponsorship of any kind.
In addition, if someone buys the eBook when it is released, and mentions you as their referrer, we will give you 10% of every purchase accredited to you.
The rest of the money raised through this Website will help build a first class cattery, and maybe more!
We have a dedications facility where visitors can post a dedication, birthday remembrance, or more. This is a donation service and will go towards the hosting and running costs of this website.
I hope you enjoy your visit to Tall Cat Tales and please, visit and submit your stories, photos, videos or quotes as often as you can. We invite cat owners to share their cat tales with us. These may be funny or heartwarming, we don't mind so long as they are real stories about real cats.
Those who do not have a cat or for whatever reason cannot have a cat right now, are welcome too. Hopefully, these stories will make you smile or laugh, and bring you some of the relaxing health benefits having a cat can provide.
Many thanks
John (Scholarjack)
